Leonard Bin Darimi

Summary

Leonard Bin Darimi is a Melanau originally from Mukah. He worked as a Visual Arts Education teacher at SMK Oya Dalat. He obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UITM Shah Alam in 1998 majoring in painting. Then he obtained a Diploma in Education (KPLI) from Raja Melewar Teachers College Seremban, Negeri Sembilan in 2002 in the field of Visual Arts. He was involved in the field of art since 1993 by establishing the Natok Rural Painters Club together with two other members, namely Desmond Bless Nanas and Maxsion Batut in Mukah Sarawak. In June 2012, Leonard established Rejang Fine Artist Group in Bintangor, Sarawak together with two other artists, Aliza Anthony Abet and Augustine Mapang and held the group’s first exhibition in Lamin Dana, Mukah in April 2012. The group was later known as RFAG, which stands for his original name. Accompanied by 7 members who are active in their work , they organized many exhibitions around Mukah. He has organized many group exhibitions since 2012
in Mukah, Sibu, Bintulu and Kuching, Sarawak.

He has also participated in group exhibitions outside Sarawak at the Penang State Museum, National Art Gallery (NAG) and at ASWARA Kuala Lumpur, Sabah Art Gallery Kota Kinabalu in Sabah and in West Kalimantan Indonesia. Apart from Rejang Fineartist Group (RFAG), he is also a member of Persatuan Pelukis dan Seni Visual Miri(PPSVM) and Sarawak Artists Society (SAS).
