Summary

Art has seamlessly integrated into Sheila’s life, expressed through painting and urban sketching, leaving an indelible mark. Her abstract expressionism enables her to surpass conventions, continually evolving skills through extensive reading and research. Guided by emotions, Sheila selects colours conveying her inner feelings. As an abstract expressionist, her art mirrors herself, rooted in deep emotions and universal themes. This journey has led her to experiment with diverse abstract media and forms, drawing from the surroundings to create watercolour and acrylic paintings. Sheila’s art prompts viewers to engage senses and connect with the subconsciousness, offering freedom of expression. With her unique deconstruction technique, she dismantles and recreates her work fearlessly. Art has become Sheila’s medium to reconnect senses with the self. As an abstract expressionist, she channels emotions into vibrant colours, often using reddish orange to reflect her energy and excitement. Initially a hobbyist, Sheila embraced art seriously in 2010, joining Sarawak Artists Society in 2015. Her work adorns various local and international exhibitions and esteemed spaces like Sarawak State Library.

Her art goes beyond self-expression, seen in her charitable acts and recognition in exhibitions. In December 2021, Sheila donated “A Glowing Heart” to Sarawak Heart Hospital, a tribute to frontliners’ dedication. In March 2023, her art gained international recognition, earning her a Gold Medal at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Japan. Her art touches hearts, spreads positivity, and leaves a mark far beyond its canvas. An avid traveller, Sheila sketches her impressions. Beyond painting, she’s a skilled beadwork artist. With a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management & Training and a Montessori Early Childhood Education diploma, Sheila imparts life skills through creative training sessions, fortified by her accreditation from Lions Club International and HRD Corp. In 2018, Sheila was awarded the prestigious Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak- Bentara Bintang Sarawak (BBS) by the Sarawak State government in recognition of her work with the Kuching Autistic Association. With each brushstroke, Sheila crafts aesthetics and nurtures souls. Her canvas echoes with human emotions, a timeless symphony.
