Summary

Katrisha Zhao is an Australian artist residing in Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia. Her paintings explore the beauty hidden in everyday life —quiet conversations and the small moments people often overlook. Working mostly in oils and acrylics, she creates works that feel warm, nostalgic, and deeply personal, often influenced by her multicultural Australian and Asian upbringing.

She holds a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts from the University of Tasmania and a Master of Teaching from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. Alongside her own art practice, Katrisha is the Head of Arts at Knewton Global Schools Miri, co-founder of Pakat Studio, and one of the driving forces behind the Miri Artisan Market. Her work is shaped by her love for storytelling, community, slow living, and human connection — blending contemporary realism with scenes that feel both familiar and emotionally honest.

Her current body of work, Red, reflects on themes of family, intimacy, culture and emotional connection through rich colour palettes and quiet domestic scenes. The series captures fleeting moments of togetherness and belonging, transforming ordinary experiences into deeply human narratives.
