Summary
Professor Michael Carter Tate was my law professor at the University of Tasmania. He was a high achiever in Australian federal politics and a pioneer of international law. Instead of choosing an easy retirement he was ordained a Catholic priest and continued to teach at the University. He was then appointed the Vicar General of Tasmania, traditionally addressed as Monsignor in some cultures. This painting was presented to him as a departing gift for years of affection and care towards me.
